Qualifications in social work and counselling have furnished Dave with excellent people skills (interpersonal, social, listening, empathy, negotiating etc) – vital in a role such as Construction Manager or Senior Project Manager, whether interacting with staff and contractors on site, or liaising with major stakeholders, customers and clients (including Highways Agency, MoD, RAF, Councils & Duchy of Cornwall).

Broad technical experience gained through senior positions over a wide range of civil engineering projects including world’s first strengthening and widening of a suspension bridge whilst remaining open to traffic (A38 Tamar Bridge Strengthening & Widening – 2001), and fastest ever transition of a UK airport (Newquay Cornwall Airport– 2008) from military to civilian CAA licencing.  Senior role in major road building schemes in Cornwall including A30 Mitchell/Summercourt By-Pass, A39 Falmouth Distributor Road, A30 Kennards House and A39 Trispen By-Pass.  Also harbour projects involving working in environmentally sensitive tidal waters (2008-13), building on brown field former mining areas (2013/4), and working on sites with marginal ground conditions (eg former china clay works – 2014).

Overall 23 years construction experience including Hayle North Quay Infrastructure Project (£17m, 2011-13), Isles of Scilly Link Project design development (£63m, 2009-11), Newquay Airport Transition (& other) Project (£65m, 2006-10), Tamar Bridge Strengthening & Widening (£36m, 1999-2001) & Riyadh Additional Water Supply Project (£270m, 1979-81).
